Center of Excellence for Complex Engineering Systems
Abdullah Alawad is currently a Research Associate at the Center for Complex Engineering Systems (CCES) at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He graduated as the valedictorian with a B.Sc in Electrical Power Engineering in 2013 from Qassim University, prior to joining CCES as a research specialist where he worked on the modeling and analysis of renewable energy systems with a focus on solar energy systems as part of Strategic Solar Desalination Network (SSDN) project. He then received an M.Sc in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor in 2017 where he specialized in Power and Energy. Areas that he had focused on in his studies include power system dynamics and control, analysis of power distribution systems and loads, optimization in power system markets, and grid Integration of renewable energy sources.
At CCES, Abdullah is currently working on the GCC power trading and market optimization. His research interests include: energy markets and optimization, modeling of power systems, energy sources, and loads and power system dynamics and control.
