Abdulaziz Alsuwailim

Research Associate

Center of Excellence for Complex Engineering Systems

Abdulaziz Alsuwailim is currently a Research Associate at at the Center for Complex Engineering Systems (CCES) at King Abdulaziz City for Science & Technology (KACST) and MIT. He received a Bachelor degree in Mathematics and Physics from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). He then received a Master’s degree in Human Genetics (Bioinformatics) from McGill University. He developed an image processing algorithm for human cell imaging, and a novel, distribution and subgroups sensitive, statistical test for High Content Screening.

He is interested in large scale simulations and emergent behavior. At CCES, he is involved in a project where he try to figure out differences in skills between groups of the labor market in Saudi Arabia. He is also working in another project to help the health sector in Saudi Arabia to leverage the use of information to improve patient care. In his free time, he stares at smooth histograms, and try (to no avail) to figure out closed form solutions to infinite sums.
